alfalfa

Alfalfa is a herb used in Ayurvedic medicine and in Indian cooking. It gets its name from arabic al-fac-facah, meaning “father of all foods.”

Useful for Digestive problems, lowers cholesterol, Blood and Liver purifier, pectic ulcers, Menopause discomforts and more. Helps reduce excessive water in the body, thereby slimming.

It is also used as Hay for cattle.

Vitamins: B Compex, A,D, D2, D3, E and K. Only vegetable source of Vitamin D.

Minerals: iron, niacin, biotin, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous and potassium.

Kannada: ಲುಸರ್ನೆ ಸೊಪ್ಪು lusarne soppu, ವಿಲಾಯಿತಿ ಹುಲ್ಲು vilaayiti hullu

Marathi: विलायती गवत vilayati gavat

Oriya: ਦੁਰੇਸ਼ਤਾ dureshta, ਸਿੰਝੀ sinjhi

Sanskrit: अश्वाबला ashvabala

Availability: as leaves, seeds and sprouts. There are also in tonic and power form from various companies.
